How it works…
The entire process can take from 8-16 weeks. I only take a reserved number of bouquets per week so make please reserve your preservation as soon as possible!
Flowers are best when preserved 24-48 hours after your wedding. Therefore, I come to your resort or wedding venue to pick up your flowers following the reception or the day after the wedding so we can start the preservation process.
Once I return back to my studio I will begin the process of preserving the flowers in silica to dry them out but preserve their shape and as much of their natural colors. Note: Not all flowers or plants, such as succulents, can be preserved. We use the best parts of the bouquet to make the most of the preservation. There can be a slight variation in color and texture based on how the flowers were handled throughout the day but we work hard to preserve the absolute best flowers for your piece. There are also options to add artificial elements (succulents), to ensure the most important parts are included.
The flowers will dry in silica for as long as it takes to dry them out completely. If they are not completely dried they will decompose in the piece. The drying prices can take up to 3 weeks.
After they have been preserved in silica, it’s time to design! After you pick the mold you would like, I will send a preview of the design. I am always open to suggestions but remember you are hiring me as an artist and trusting in my creative process.
The pouring of the resin will take a few days. It is in this stage we will see any bruising in your flowers which can show up as clear translucent spots. This is out of my control and not something I can predict or prevent. Embrace these little imperfections and think of the journey your flowers had on your wedding day from creation by the florist to walking down the aisle with you!
Once your piece has cured for a few days I will work on any finishing touches it needs by polishing and packing it up to send to you to display in your home next to your beautiful wedding photos.
